Delinquent

Hi!  Remember me?  Wowzers but time has gotten away from me!  There’s no way we can catch up on all that has happened since we last chatted so I think we’ll for the most part, just pick up and pretend my lapse in blogging never happened.

This coming Wednesday is the last long run before the taper for Grandma’s Marathon!  Man, that race snuck up on me!  It’s only 28 days away~June 18th.  MFH (MY Favorite Husband) and I will be driving up to Duluth about 4 days before the race.  We’ll rest, do the Expo, run and then have a few day’s after the race for a little vacation.

I was surprised to discover that I will know close to a dozen runners who will be in Duluth for the race!  Of course, MFH will do an *eye roll* and say something like, “I can’t take you anywhere without you knowing somebody!”  Hahaha!!!  He’s so cute!  You should have heard him in Germany last fall when I knew 6 people there.  He couldn’t believe it!  It was pretty funny!!!  The problem (if you chose to see it as a problem) is that I talk waaaayyy too much.  Doesn’t matter if it’s online or IRL, I talk and never come up for air.  Meet a lot of people that way!

MFH and I traded in our Honda Accord this week.  We’ve had good success with Honda’s over the years!  Mechanically, that is.  When we lived in Estes Park, we bought a brand new Honda Element.  Can’t remember what year that was but the seats in that were just awful!  Most uncomfortable car EVER!  At least I thought it was the most uncomfortable car until we bought the Accord.  The past 3(ish) years, if we took a car trip further than, say, 2 hrs, I had to sit on two car cushions and take Advil every 4 hours.  That car killed my butt!!!

We finally decided with our trip to MN coming up that it was time to upgrade the car.  We purchased a 2012 Lexus ES350.  It’s not a bells and whistles Lexus but to us, it sure is~and my rumpatootis is so very, very happy!!!  The only thing that pained me with the trade in of the Accord was giving up my running decals.  Sad Panda.

You all know that I’m a numbers nerd so let’s look at the year to date total for 2016:  954.15 miles.   I’d like to hit 1000 before the end of May.  Fingers crossed on that!

Update on my toenail removal from March.  They are healed in that they don’t ooze any more.  The toes still look nasty because they are huge scabs at the end of my toes.  Wait~should I have warned you first that this part was going to be gross?  Oops!  No pics.  You’re welcome!  Hahaha!!!

My sister ran her first Half Marathon last Saturday.  I was super happy for her!  She totally crushed it coming in 15 minutes faster than her goal time!  BOOM!!!

That race was all for her.  I went along for support.  Period.  She wanted me to finish enough ahead of her to get pics of her crossing the finish line.  I told her I could do that!

My cute as a button #IRun4 buddy, Aiden, gets to play little league this summer!  His mom found a place that has baseball for children with special needs and was able to secure him a place on a team!  Come June 5, I am all set to cheer on his team the Blue Jays!  Go Blue Jays!!!

Our radio station, WMFH-LP FM, Classic Book Radio is up and running and doing well.  We have received our final approval from the FCC so we’re the real deal!  Next thing we’re working on is providing streaming. We have a few financial hurdles to cross before we are able to get all of those ducks in a row.

I am still running 5 day’s a week and averaging 50-55 miles a week.  I very seriously love, love, love to run!  After Grandma’s Marathon, I will be at the Peachtree 10K in Atlanta, GA, on July 4th.  Next will be the Berlin Marathon in Sept.  I hope to run the Gateway to the Delta 10 miler in November.  The Mississippi Blues Marathon in January and then Rocky Raccoon 100 Miler in Feb.

The drawing for the London Marathon will be held in October.  Getting into London through the lottery system is basically impossible so I’m not getting my hopes up for that.  Then again, stranger things have been known to happen!  If I am unsuccessful with London, I will be putting my name in the hat for NYC Marathon…again.  This will be my 4th year in a row trying for NYC.  MFH and I chatted about this race.  If I am unsuccessful in the lottery for NYC this fall, I will be running in the fall of 2017 on a charity bib.  #goodthingscometothosethatwait

The Runner’s World Cover Contest is up and running!  I’ve put my name in the hat for that.  It’s primarily through voting and is such a fun contest!  Here’s the link to the contest.  Don’t know if the link will work but we’ll toss it in here for the fun of it:  http://coversearch.runnersworld.com/entry/22/

I think that’s everything current!  I’ll try not to be a stranger.
