Racing the train

[Today’s run: 5 miles in Pleasant Hill]

I was up before the sunrise today. It was overcast so the exact sunrise was a bit obscured. There were bats flying around.

I did some tinkering around on my phone with Youtube.

Then about 6 am I started out on my run.

I went down the hill on Oakwood to the trail by Fourmile Creek. Soon after I turned on to the trail a train came up along side on the track coming out of Des Moines. But I just continued on. I guess that doesn’t count as racing but the title sounded good. The train did the train thing, slowly but faster than me.

There were a couple of people on the trail, not a lot. And I saw a cyclist and a guy walking three beautiful dogs in the eastward leg. I turned south on NE 56th street, made it through the stoplights near highway 163, up the long-ish hill in the residential area then on to Oakwood.

It was a really good run. I don’t remember the last time I did that whole thing without walking. The weather has been cool, and I am just a bit lighter.
