If only I had known

[Monday’s run: 3 miles]

Today I was watching a youtube video of a guy doing some low level programming on a 6502 processor and breadboard. He starts with the CPU chip and some discrete parts and goes from there.

That reminded me of a book I had in the mid 1990’s. I don’t remember what happened to it. It was about wiring up a home computer from scratch using wire-wrap technique. I never really tried it, but it was interesting to read. Circuit diagrams and data sheets talk about buses and signals, and multiplexing and de-multiplexing and such things. It starts to get interesting when you see how it is all actually hooked up.

Anyway, I went and did some searching. I think maybe the book I had was this one: Build Your Own Microcomputer Based on the Intel 8088 by Walter Fuller . I’ve linked that to the Amazon page in case you want to buy a copy.

I don’t know what happened to my copy or even if that is the right book, (but it sounds like what I remember). I wish I knew, because Amazon wants over a hundred bucks for the book now!
