[Yesterday’s run: 3 miles]
Sometimes old houses have odd features.
This large old house is on one of our running routes. It is in a very nice neighborhood. I recently noticed the strange roof treatment. It is almost like a visual puzzle, an optical illusion.
At first I thought they had just blanked off the dormer for some reason. Then I got a slightly different angle and noticed that the wall moves out a foot or two, so they needed some extra roof I guess and that messed up the dormer. Still, a dormer with no window is rather strange. Why go to the trouble of doing the extra work in roof framing just to cover it with shingles?
I can imagine someone decided that some internal hallway or room needed that extra foot of space which started all of the trouble.
