Paul Norton

[Today’s run: 3.4 miles]

We took two artworks to the framing shop this evening. One is a little watercolor of the Flatirons mountains near Boulder, CO. The glass had cracked in our recent move.

The other is possibly a real watercolor of the Old Capitol in Iowa City by quad-cities artist Paul Norton. I had picked it up long ago in Des Moines and it has been in the wrong sized frame all this time. But our move broke the frame so it is finally getting sorted out. The lady at the frame shop thought it might be an original work. I’m skeptical.

We have two other framed numbered prints of watercolor works by Norton which we picked up at estate sales in Colorado.

Norton was a prolific watercolor artist from the 1930’s through the 1970’s in eastern Iowa in particular.

We have quite a bit of original art on our walls. Some was done by Mrs. Howard in her oil-painting days. And we have a big southwestern oil by Renee Martig of Loveland, CO.
