[today’s run: 3.5 miles]
It seems we have made it through the month of June without our usual outbreak of deer flies. The pesky things usually would come in a wave by this time and drive me batty while running. They bite hard! I’ve been known to stop and break a leafy twig from a tree by the road in order to shoo them away. I’d much rather smack myself than be bitten.
They make a variety of sticky strips you can put on the back of your hat (I’ve provided a picture borrowed from amazon.com). But I’ve never gotten into that. I put some Off on the back of my head and on my shoulders. And I carry a bandana or twig to swipe at them.
But this year the hoard has not (yet) arrived. There are some traditions I am happy to forgo.
