[Today’s run: 13 miles]
This week my lovely wife went and signed us up for a marathon in October. She asked me first and I said OK. But still… it sounds like trouble.
So, I now have to quit goofing around and lose about 10 lbs by 1-July and another 10 lbs by 1-Oct, more if I can. I think I am up about 20-25 from when I did my last marathon in the fall of 2010.
No more soda-pop. No more french fries. No more potato chips. (Potatoes in general are none to good.) Stop eating when I am full and don’t start until I’m hungry. When ice cream, one scoop and one scoop only. When restless, drink water first and evaluate before throwing open the fridge. If I can actually do all of that then 10 lbs will be easy.
I am a lot better at eating than I am at running. Why is that? It doesn’t seem right.
In other news, I worked some more on the 40db tap. I have a couple more things to do on that.
And this week I ordered some solar panels for the autonomous weather station. So that project is still moving along slowly. Lots of fun stuff happening.

The island is beautiful any time but you will be there in fall colors – or near the end (peak is generally around Columbus Day). Take extra time for that, if you can. Bar Harbor, itself, is overbuilt & touristy (a retail monstrosity dominates the busiest/primest part of town) but other towns along the coast have the quaint feel one expects of the area – e.g., I prefer Belfast to Bar Harbor.
As for the run – the island is not flat.
Thanks!
Neither one of us has ever been up that way. Even if the run fizzles we will get to see some beautiful country.
