Bathroom technology

[Today’s run: rest day]

We did a bit of driving around today and one of our stops was at the mall in Tupelo, MS.  It’s a nice mall.  I used the restroom in the JC Penney store (FYI).

Here’s a picture of the hand washing facilities in the men’s room at JC Penney.

I assume they have switched to this fancy multi-sink thing because a) it is all automated,  no handles, nobody can leave the water running and b) no one can wash their hair or do anything else other than try to wash their hands.

I have mixed thoughts about the automatic faucet craze these days.  When I can get them to work I find them ok.  They are less annoying then the spring-powered faucets that make you hold them on, and also less annoying then the push-button type, both of which you commonly find in interstate rest stops.

This particular fixture reminded me a lot of the old “trough” type of urinal that used to the going thing 50 years ago.  Don’t use it for that though, please.
