On Vacation

[Wednesday 5/3: 4.75 miles; Thursday 5/4: 4 miles]

We flew out of Birmingham on Tuesday morning, to Dallas, then to Denver. We had a nice afternoon with the kids then went to our hotel.

Wednesday morning I ran a nice route from the Residence Inn in Loveland, up around Houts Reservoir for 4.75 miles. In this part of the country biking and running trails of all kinds are just considered normal. It seems like every housing development will have something along that line, and probably have it tied in with a larger system. You can go miles on these paths.

Thursday morning we ran a bit in the Devils Backbone recreation area west of Loveland.

We’ve been enjoying our visit, particularly the chance to interact with our grandson. He is just a delight. He is at a stage of quickly soaking up language and involving himself with the world around him. I remember when our kids were that age and it was really fun.

On Thursday and Friday we busted him out of his usual daycare and had him in the afternoon, then dined with his family. Yesterday (Friday) we drove up to Estes Park and puttered around a bit. He seems to really enjoy the outdoors.

We went to the RMNP HQ building and bought some trinkets, then walked around the building on a pathway. Later we went to Lily Lake and saw a moose in the lake eating water plants.
