Almost an antenna

[Monday: 3.2 miles; Wednesday: 3.2 miles; Saturday: 5.25 on Heritage Trail]

I didn’t end up using the treadmill this week. I took my running clothes to work with me and ran at lunch time. Going through the parking lot, out to the road, and around to the east side of the factory, with return gives me just over 3 miles. The only unusual part is having to change clothes in my van.

Yesterday we had good weather, the roof was dry, so I put up the ladder and climbed up there and installed my chimney straps and stubby pvc pipe with the pulley at the top. I got the rope in the pulley and hauled up my old G5RV antenna. Then I secured one end to the fence and the other emd makes a dog-leg at the garage and goes toward the big tree by the driveway. (I have some more work I want to do on that end.)

Today I did a bit of work on routing the feed line. But I didn’t start until late in the afternoon and it got dark before I finished it up. TThe feedline is mostly 400-ohm open-wire stuff. I’m trying to keep it away from the house and the gutters and such. I bought some 4 ft long half-inch fiberglass rods used for electric fencing fence posts. I got one mounted at the roofline of the back porch, sticking out about 18 inches. I probably need at least two more to get things routed to the basement window.

Then, I have to make some holes in the window frame or figure out another means of getting the line inside the house. I could probably make a feed through panel and replace the glass in the window. I’m not sure what I’ll do yet.
