[Today’s run: 3.5 miles]
My wife had the turkey all prepped and in the oven when she left to meet her running group for a 13 mile run this morning. I got myself going on the shed project. I finally got the air conditioner hole cut and the AC unit installed. That’s a load off my mind.
So the bird cooked in the oven for 2 hours totally unsupervised. But he/she did a good job. The skin was nicely brown. I sprayed some cooking spray on some aluminum foil and put it over the top and just let it roll. About 10 I started peeling potatoes and got them boiling. And I started boiling the giblets and neck. By 10:30 the temperature popper on the bird had popped and I turned off the oven and just let it coast while I mashed the potatoes. Around 11 I moved the bird out of the oven, draining off the liquid and wrapping it up, roaster and all, in some aluminum insulating stuff. Then I made the giblet gravy. Soon after that the wife returned home and we got ourselves over to Starkville shortly after noon.
There we met with the inlaws and had a very tasty meal. It was topped off with fresh apple pie ala mode. Every hollow place in my body is stuffed with very good food.
