[today’s run: 3.5 miles]
I had seen this thing in early August. Finally I’m getting some of my recent cell phone pictures uploaded to my computer.
It looks like a railroad car coupler. I believe this is CAGY line; it’s between Columbus, MS and Artesia, MS.
(I once found the knuckle of one of these at a crossing and used it as an anvil while pounding out the broken kingpin of a 1950 Chevy pickup truck. The hole in the casting lined up under the kingpin and it worked great. I probably had it about a week. I think I took the thing back to the crossing after I was done with it, realizing the railroad probably didn’t consider it lost. It was 30+ years ago, so I think the statute of limitations has expired.)
I suspect this meant a bad day for somebody.
