Turtle and hedge apples

[Today’s run: 3.5 miles]

I was out early this morning for my run.  I noticed that the green hedge apples are starting to fall from the trees.  They are about the size of a softball and weigh like a similarly sized melon.  It would hurt to have one fall on you from the tree!. There aren’t a lot of these trees, but a few it seems in every fence row.  The story is that putting these near the front or back door will keep spiders out of the house. Wikipedia tells me this is not substantiated.  But I’ll usually pick up a couple by the side of the road during the summer and set them in the garage.  They’re free.

I also came across a turtle crossing the road.  This guy was fairly large, his shell was about 10 inches long (by eye).
