Today was the Labor Day holiday, the semi-official end of summer.
I started off the day by catching up my ham radio log entries in the online Logbook Of The World (LOTW) at the ARRL.org website. I had last done that in late 2014, so I had about 10 pages of stuff to wrangle up and get into the system.
Some of these were pages of computer text from when I was the “fox” at some of the QRP fox hunts in 2014 and 2015. I was able to transform those into upload-able form fairly quickly.
Pages of hand written logs require that I type them in and then do a bit of transformation and then the upload. I have about 20-25 entries on a page, so I suspect I typed in maybe 100-125 log entries.
I got to review my level of activity. Since 2014 my radio station work has overshadowed the ham radio stuff and I am not on the air nearly as much. I used to wake up early in the morning and go listen to the 40 meter band to see if anything was happening. These days when I wake up early I use my phone to check out facebook/reddit and the daily page on wikipedia.
One of the big reasons for my drop off has been that my environment in the radio room is not as comfortable. The radio station transmitter is on all the time and the fan is loud and the room is hotter than the rest of the house. I still plan to make a small out-building to put the transmitter away from my living space. But that has not happened yet.
