Really! (not really)

[Tuesday: 3.5; today: 3.5]

I was reading something online this week about politics.  The author was castigating Rush Limbaugh for promoting Donald Trump when everyone with any practical sense knew that Donald Trump would have to “walk back” a lot of his statements about… whatever the subject was…   And later Limbaugh said something to the effect that he never really believed it anyway.  Seems like politicians in general have to “walk back” a lot of what they say.

I agree that happens to Donald Trump a lot.  But it is also in the same vein as “If you like your plan you can keep your plan”.  Everyone in_the_know already knew that wasn’t going to work.  But presumably some folks out there actually believed it and acted on it.

So both sides do this dance where the insiders already know they aren’t telling the truth.  People who don’t pay so much attention take things at face value (or so it seems) and vote as if what they said actually meant something.

That is a disheartening way to run a country.
