[Today 1 mile plus 10 100 meter sprints]
It’s been awhile since I did any sprints. So this weekend I grabbed up the 100′ tape measure and some stakes and a couple of old cans of spray paint and laid out a 329 ft. section in front of the house.
Three hundred twenty nine feet is just a few inches over 100 meters.
Tonight I gave it a try. I jogged down to the stop sign and back, 1 mile. Then I ran 10 repeats of the 100 meters. I usually try to do a few easy, a few medium, and a few hard. Since I had not done this in awhile, I only did two hard ones, #7 and #9. In between each sprint I walked back to the start and tried to recover.
I don’t think I overdid it, but I can definitely feel it. My fastest were just under 19 seconds. I hope to trim that down some over the next few weeks.
A couple of weeks ago track and field great and former NFL player Willie Gault ran 11.30. He’s about 6 months older than I am.
