This morning was the last race of the season here in Mississippi. It gets awful warm, real fast here, in the South, so the racing season is kinda short.
Today was the Old Cotton Mill 5K Run in Starkville, MS. Starkville is about 20-25 miles from where we live in Columbus. My parents and my sister (and her family) live in Starkville, so we are there often. Anyway, this weekend is the Cotton District Arts Festival and this race was in conjunction with the Festival.
The day was cold and windy. Absolutely perfect running weather! They did begin the race almost 20 min. late-they were not the most organized group I’ve ever experienced-but the weather was as good as you could ask for.
My goal was to “PR”. My past record was 44:20 and today I ran a 38:22! Bells and whistles! My husband was a huge motivator. He stayed just far enough ahead head of me to make me really work to not lose sight of him.
So, now, I am sitting around, trying to recover. Thinking that maybe someone might take pity on me and peel me a grape-or something. Maybe not, huh?
