Where ever you are, there you are.

[Today’s run: 1 mile, down to the main road and back]

I was glad to get home from my travels this week.

I get so discombobulated when my patterns of living are broken up, and travel has a way of doing that.  I’d like to think that I could eat less and spend more time doing quality things when I don’t have the pressures of work and maintaining the daily chores.   But it doesn’t seem to work that way.

Apparently I am not the only one who finds travel disrupting, considering the number of people who go to places like Las Vegas and do stupid stuff that they would never do at their home.  Vegas even advertises “Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” as if you can leave your experiences behind when you get on a plane.

One of the things I fall into so easily when traveling is that I watch too much television. On this trip I did a bit of reading.  But I still watched too much television.

I guess traveling kind of strips off some of the excuses for why I don’t have the personal discipline that I would “like” to have.  One might think that for a week I could work up some self improvement.

It just goes to show what the lowest common denominator is in my life.  I get by and stay out of trouble.  No great accomplishments, no beautiful writing or deep thoughts.

I got my work done, had a great time with my family and made it home safe.
