Free audio books

[Today’s run: Watson Road  3.5 miles]

I was searching around for some audio texts online to listen to on a long car ride.

The best site I found was http://www.librivox.org  They have  a volunteer system where people can read a few chapters of a public domain text.  Other volunteers compile the complete works which are then available for download in MP3 format.

I downloaded Pride and Prejudice (which I had never read) and we have been listening to that on trips into town recently.  I also have downloaded a couple of others which I will burn into CDs for later use.

And, I signed up to be a reader. I have lots of projects already so maybe this will stick and maybe it won’t.  But I thought I would try reading a couple of sections and see how it goes.

I should also note that I’m burning these onto CDs.  If I had a more modern car with a fancy audio system I probably would just put them into an MP3 player or on a thumb drive.  But my cars don’t have that capability.

p.s.

Today I got some help from a mailing list and solved my Apache problem from yesterday.
