[Today’s run: 3.2 miles]
Yesterday I drove up to Memphis airport, picked up the rented mini-van and connected with the crew from Colorado who were coming in for the memorial service. We then drove home and ate some supper.
Today I woke up, went for a run, then we fiddled around awhile with the grandkids.
The memorial service activities started at 12:30 and we were a bit late getting everyone loaded but we arrived ok. There was a bit more than an hour of “viewing” and visiting time in the church sanctuary. Everyone liked the grand kids, which is only to be expected.
Eventually everyone had come through and taken a seat. Then the service proper commenced. It was very nice. We sang one congregational song. A soloist sang two songs. The pastor gave a good memorial and also encouragement.
After that we got the kids loaded in the van again and went to the graveside service. Again we were a bit late but we arrived before the finish.
The next thing on the program was a meal back at the church. But we had a scheduling conflict so we were not able to attend.
The sister-in-law and her gang were all at the services and I hear they were able to attend the meal. I’m glad that was the case.
For at least a few hours today all of the Penenger offspring were in one location. It has been quite awhile since that last happened. There are two children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 greatgrandchildren, along with 3 spouses and 1 significant other.
