[two runs last week (3.4?), 2 miles yesterday]

It has been a couple of crazy weeks

About two weeks ago I had a telephone interview with a place in Dubuque, IA about a contractor position in the Deere factory there. I would be working with a product R&D group doing proof-of-concept things. It sounded really interesting.

Apparently they thought I sounded OK too because they asked me to come out for an in-person interview. So the weekend before last I drove to Des Moines, worked a couple of days from there, then drove to Dubuque on Wednesday and had my in person interview. By the end of the day they called me and made me an offer. I accepted and on Friday I gave notice at my current job. Thursday and Friday I drove back to MS.

Sunday had me back in the car driving all day back up to Dubuque with the wife to go house hunting. Monday we looked at houses. Today we put an offer on a house. Tomorrow we drive back to MS.

It has been a whirlwind. And it is not over yet. We hope to get moved and closed on the house and everything all done before my starting day: Monday, July 22. My last day on the current job is July 5th and I have two weeks between to get packed and moved.

Since I accepted that job I’ve received two further emails asking for phone interviews. So somehow the dam broke.

I told my wife it was probably because I started growing a stylish goatee. And I wore my lucky suit to the in-person interview. I should have been doing that all along!

Congratulations on landing an interesting job! I’m wondering what your plans are for the radio station and ham antenna, well, actually looking forward to hearing about the moving adventure in general.

    Lucky suits are wonderful things.

Congrats! (Does the city give you a free ham for moving there?)
