Progress?

[today’s run: 7 miles]

We have had some interesting things happening recently.

My low-level job search brought me to another telephone interview this week. I think it would be a good job for me. They’ve told me they want me to come for an in-person interview. It is out of state and would require moving. I may be flying there in the next week or two. The moving idea sounds a bit daunting.

I’ve started in on the second Ten-Tec Argonaut 509 that was in my box from the Jackson hamfest. I have rebuilt the PTO, but it is not receiving signal. I think maybe there is something wrong with the IF stages.

In October I had put in a “application” for some tax-delinquent property that is for sale by the State of Mississippi. (The process is: you apply and say how much you are willing to pay. Then they do some research for 2-3 months and tell you how much they are willing to take.) We received back the price they set, which is extremely reasonable. I’m not sure if we want to go ahead with that or not. If we are moving, probably not.

And! Ta-Da! we have a new Dollar General store in the area. It is now our closest source of grocery items. It just opened in the last few days. I stopped in this evening. They have big signs up saying “Now Open”, and I caught a picture of the very first cigarette butt in the parking lot. It will never be this clean again.

The pic paginates oddly on the iPad – is placed over all the text and blocking it (so I grabbed everything on clipboard and read in text editor, worked fine) but when read on the mac this morning it is okay.

Those butts push my buttons. But then whoever did that will most likely spend there mornings in their senior years in violent hacking coughing fits and get winded when climbing a flight of stairs and their food will taste bad if it tastes like anything at all and their face will look like worn leather…

I hope they are paying to fly you there. Presumably they are. Otherwise FaceTime. GOOD LUCK!
