Returned from Texas

[Yesterday: 3.5 miles]

We went to Texas over a long weekend.  We left on Wednesday and drove down to New Orleans for a quick visit and meal.  Then we stopped north of NOLA for the night.  On Thursday we drove on in to our hotel in Sugarland, TX.

Melinda ran in a 100 mile race on Saturday/Sunday.  She had some problems with eyesight starting around mile 25 and was able to get through the end of the 2nd 16+ mile loop.  After that the medical people (and me, and her) decided it was not wise to continue the next loop due to approaching evening and the understanding that she was not going to be able to complete the race by any means, she declared her DNF to the race officials. She had done about 35 miles.

So we had a good night sleep on Saturday back at the hotel instead of me being in a lawn chair at the race with her still running.  We went back on Sunday to cheer in some of the 100 mile finishers and collect our lawn chair and other debris. We drove all the way home on Monday.

Our hotel was a fancy place.  It was near a big mall.  I saw this picture at a nearby clothing store.  “Oh boy,” I thought, “They’ve restored an old TV and they are playing the old Rudolph show on it.”  No.  Actually they removed the picture tube and they put an LG flatscreen monitor in there.  Cheaters!  (It probably was not a color TV in its former life anyway.)
