Endeavor Morse

[today’s run: 3.5 miles]

We’ve been watching TV episodes on Amazon Prime for the last few months.  Slowly we’ve been exploring all of the “PBS Masterpiece” selections.

Long ago they had a series from the Inspector Morse mystery books.  Then they spun off Lewis (who was Morse’s flunky but then became the inspector with his own flunky), and then a prequel series called Endeavor which is when Morse was a flunky.

We watched all of the Lewis episodes they had.  Now we are working on Endeavor.  Each episode has a similar layout.  There are some seemingly unrelated events including at least one murder.  Morse tries to find the links between the events. Other people in the cop shop scoff at his connecting of events that don’t seem related.  In the end Morse is right.

Morse tries to build relationships outside of work but he is unreliable and self centered.  He really gets involved in his work to the detriment of everything else.  He doesn’t like injustice and unfairness, but is blind to the way he is unfair and unjust and doesn’t like being found out as hypocritical.  (I think that part makes him personable.  It’s tough even for a TV character to be always right.)
