This is our first car with bluetooth in the dash (2012 Lexus ES 350). It has both in-dash speaker phone using bluetooth and bluetooth to the stereo so you can play tunes.
I use both. On longer trips we will use our phones to download a podcast or even play something off our data plan (like the Classic Book Radio station). My wife almost always drives with someone on the phone to keep her awake and alert.
The car also has GPS in the dash. But the fault with that is the cost of map updates. So we usually use the smartphones for that also.

If you have Amazon Prime, they have good music streaming, FYI. Commercial free (do people still use broadcast radio for music?).
