It’s a Tarp!*

[Today’s run: 3.5 miles]

My neighbor is a good guy.  He has a one-truck trucking company.  I like to see him succeed.

He stops by pretty often and asks me for help with one thing or another.  I have more tools, and generally between the two of us we can figure it out.

Anyway, on Monday he asked me to help him change the tarp on his asphalt-hauling dump trailer.  I said I would.  Monday afternoon we got together.  It turned out that his current tarp had some big rips in it which kept him from covering his load to the satisfaction of the people he is working with.  He thought he had another workable tarp.  But it was also in bad shape and not a direct swap.

So then we got into trying to sew up the rips in the original tarp and using patches cut from the 2nd tarp to melt on with my heat gun to try to make it work.  We worked until dark with about an hour break for dinner.  And in all of that time we had gotten about 1/3rd of the way done.

He left the tarp off, and was gone all day today in the truck, so I guess he must have had other things to haul that didn’t require covering.

This evening I went to Wal-Mart and bought some better needles.  But then I got called back into my day job to do some stuff and didn’t get anything done on the tarp project.  I didn’t see him out there either.

I’m hoping he will buy a new tarp.
