I’m a slob

[Today’s run: 5.4 miles]

My name is Chris and I’m a slob.  (“Hi Chris”)

It is true.  I am a stacks person.  And then my stacks fall over so I make new stacks and stacks on stacks.

Do you know “little walkways”?  I have little walkways.  I can get to my chair in the office here where I spend most of my days.  But to get to the other side of this room requires some careful stepping right now.   I need to clean this place up.

My wife won’t let anyone look in our garage.

I did rearrange my work surface in the last few weeks, so that isn’t looking too bad right now.  When I do clean, I try to do a thorough job because I know it isn’t going to happen again very soon.  When the right-at-hand stack starts to lean over the keyboard or block the view of a screen, it is time to go through it and throw some away.  And the rest goes into a stack on the floor.  (this is a problem!)

The one thing that will get me going is bugs.  We don’t have bugs in our house and if we start to get some, or mice, then it’s time to tear things apart and clean it all within an inch of it’s life.

First: I agree with Jonathan. I detest dusting and would rather not clean unless I can also throw something away. The throwing away is the satisfaction. Hired help makes a big difference. She cleans; I throw. (Not usually the same item.)
Second: I long for a burn barrel like we had growing up.
The paper has to be dealt with – particularly mail – by opening, sorting, shredding some, recycling some, filing some. I could skip the shredding/recycling and enjoy the simple pleasure of lighting a match.

We have a conventional fireplace full of crumpled junk mail, bank statements, etc. all set to go on a cool evening.

My desk at work is a mess. I tell people if it’s on my desk it doesn’t exist. The stuff that is important is in soft copy.
