Last word from 2014

[Saturday: 7 miles; Tuesday: 3.4 miles; nothing today]

I’ve never been a big New Year’s Eve guy.  It always seemed to me that I just have to wake up tomorrow and do it all again like normal.  So, except for the day off, it isn’t very exciting.

Sorry I haven’t been posting much.

One of my little projects, I finished up a kit which is the WB6DHW RF front-end filter board.  There were 42 toroids to wind and a bunch of little chip capacitors to solder in.  It took me a few days but I got that done.  I have not used it yet.

The WMFH-LP radio station project is done for the year.  We had a good year but now we are facing crunch time.  We need to get some serious money by July.  Go big or go home.  I am still applying to foundations and other grant-making organizations.  I was just doing some of that the other day.  And I’ve been reading a book about literacy education and some of the facets of that.  Very interesting.

Having a bit of trouble with the autonomous, solar powered weather stations, both here and in Starkville.  The weather has been dark and rainy for about three weeks.  The short and dark days are not enough to get the battery charged up to keep the thing running.  So we are flirting with low voltage condition and that isn’t good for battery life either.  We either need smarter power management, bigger batteries, bigger solar panels, or something else.

We are doing some car shuffling here.  My son’s Ford Ranger is up for sale and he bought a 2001 compact car to replace it.  I am thinking we won’t be long in selling the Ranger.  We have had a few people ask about it during the time that we have owned it.

Nephew Nathan had his birthday party yesterday and that was fun.  He is a lively and interesting guy.  Grandma P. is up next.  My parents had their 58th wedding anniversary earlier this week.
