Health care is important

[today’s run: 12 miles]

Health care is important.

It is so important that we need to make sure everyone has health insurance.

If they don’t we will have the IRS take their money.

If that doesn’t work, they can go to jail.

They will get health care in jail without insurance.

Health care is important.

Everyone has to have insurance.

We passed a law.

Now some other people want to un-pass it.  That’s no good.

We’re going to fight about it.

I know, let’s demand that they do it our way or the government will come to a halt.

Yeah, let’s close the National Institutes of Health.

That’ll show ’em.

It seems systematically flawed that congress can vote to make expenditures and pass them but then needs to _also_ vote to get the money to finance these same expenditures. (Congress and related staff are exempt, naturally. California, where I live, had similar challenges with the legislature not passing a budget. A couple of years ago the rules changed. No budget, no pay for legislature. That solved it. I’d like to see that tried in Washington.)

I agree with you about the second vote for funding.

I think, like many things political, it lets someone vote “for” and later vote “against”. They get to have it both ways and use whichever is more convenient at any one occasion later.
