Amory, MS

[Today’s run: rest day;  Yesterday: 7.1 miles, hot.]

This afternoon we drove up to Smithville, MS to meet with another ham up there.

On the way we drove through Amory.  Amory seems to be a nice town.  I had never been there before.  It is located along the Tombigbee River/waterway.  It also appears to be a BNSF railroad town.  They had an old steam engine in the city park downtown.

FWIW, a sister to this locomotive, in a St. Louis museum, was restored to operating condition 25 years ago and ran a few years on excursions until insurance costs became prohibitive. One can see many clips on you tube: SLSF 1522.
