The Plot Thickens

[Runs on 3/10, 3/12, 3,14]

I enjoyed running from home after work that second week of March. Somehow I think I missed the run on Monday/Tuesday and then the running program took a drastic turn.

We were watching our current mystery show from Walter Presents on Amazon which is an Italian detective in the Alps which has the added spice of a torrid romance along with the ghost of his wife haunting his home, and a, somehow unnoticed, healthy size marijuana habit from the propped open window of his detective office. (Rocco Schiavone: Ice Cold Murders)

I digress.

I had spied some nice small rolls and thought I would finish off my dinner with one of those. I think I was making a move to clear off my eating area or maybe just thinking about it, eating the last bite of that roll.

And I was down on the floor and my chewing of the roll was not working well and it was not clear what was going on but I had not tripped.

I rolled over/around a bit and noticed that a hand was in view but not passing the did not pass the “friend or foe” test. How I acquired a foreign hand was not evident. My left hand was still reporting as part of the team but the right hand was not, evidently.

My wife was doing some moves to figure out was happening including air-way-cleaning work, which I didn’t feel I needed but I was happy to have her take care of that. (Actually she was the one rolling me around in any useful fashion.)

Soon we had an influx of visitors to the house (I have some missing continuity here). They brought along equipment. They were shining bright flashlights in my eyes and talking on radios. Soon I was in a gurney and then looking up at the interior roof in an ambulance.

We had a bit of a ride. I acquired an IV somewhere along the way at this point. They would ask me things, like trivial facts and I was not passing the grade. I remember regaining some vocal strength and a bit of wit returned but I could not say anything that made any sense.

We spent some time with the ambulance side door open at what seemed to be a parking lot, and I think there was a bit of a delay waiting for a helicopter ambulance.

And along about there I was getting a bit of activity of usefulness from my right hand again. It wasn’t one of the recognizable players but somehow it seemed to be in the game and mostly on my side. I was glad to have the help. I tried to fish a pen out of my pants pocket so I could maybe right something down. But the pen-fishing was too complicated with the weird hand and the gurney strap and all and I quickly gave up that idea.

The chopper showed up and they shifted me from the ambulance gurney to a smaller and lighter gurney. Then they stuffed me in feet first and I had a person in a flight suit near my head and my feet sticking forward-like. I was able to see out what seemed like a left window.

I enjoyed the trip.

Then we got to Jackson metro-whatever and we set down at the pad at the hospital and they rolled me in and took me straight to a CAT scan I think and that freed up the chopper gurney and chopper people and they went on their way.

And they took me to the “stroke” department of the ICU.
