[Yesterday’s run: 4 miles – south on Grandview to highway 61]
We had a bit of a water event this week. A heavy rainstorm moved through on Thursday night soaking us with over two inches in one hour.
Our house is on a bit of a bump and also near the top of a bluff (on the away-from-the-river side of the bluff.) So we have good long term drainage.
Unfortunately our gutters are needing a clean-out, so the fast rain overwhelmed them, putting the rain into the yard near the house and eventually some of it ended up in the basement.
I had boxes on the floor in the basement. But we were able to get everything put up before much got wet. The floor drain was busy but never backed up.
I now have fans and dehumidifier running in the basement and it is drying out nicely.
In other parts of town there were some more serious issues. Steep streets mean fast running water.
