Lady of the Mines of Spain

[Today’s run: 6.1 miles]

Today we did our run in the park area south of town called the Mines of Spain. Mining was a thing in these parts a couple of hundred years ago, before the USA became a thing. So the mines were part of Spain.

The name reminds me of my very short interest in accordion playing. I don’t remember who had an accordion. But I do remember trying it out and playing Lady of Spain.

(Here’s a guy playing Lady of Spain on a banjo.)

It also reminds me of the Lord of the Rings movies and the Mines of Moria. That’s where Gandalf battled with the balrog, the highlight of the first film.

But today’s run didn’t take us near any mines that we could recognize. A lot of it was on prairie where the flowers were really out doing their thing.

After the run I did a bunch of yard work. I mowed. And then I went to the home and farm store and bought a weed eater. It’s a nice one too. We live on a corner lot and we have a walk from the house to the street. So I’ve got a lot of sidewalks to edge. I have them all looking good now.

Later I started working on the back yard and the head flew off of the trimmer. In trying to put it back on, I think I messed it up. So tomorrow I have to take it back to the home and farm store and see if they can straighten it all out.
