[Yesterday: 7 miles]
I went over to Starkville for the running group yesterday morning.
In contrast to my recent post, this time my run went really well and I zoomed out to the water stop, had a break, and zoomed back.
The temperature was in the mid 20s when we started. I always run faster in cool weather. And I was wearing my just-retired shoes instead of the brand new pair. I seem to be still working into the new pair.
The running group in Starkville has changed. The couple who had been hosting it at their house for 20+ years quit doing that about a year ago. So the big group has splintered into some smaller groups. The one I am connected to is some older guys and the organizational parts are done via text messaging. We were meeting in the parking lot of a restaurant. But now we are meeting downtown in front of the Starkville Cafe. Because the site/schedule are a bit fluid, we don’t get the turnout that the long-time event did. But the group has grown a bit recently. I think there were 8 of us yesterday with 4-5 of the regulars away.
