[Today’s run: 8 miles, Dave’s house in Starkville]
I’m using a rental car today. It is a Jeep Cherokee of recent vintage. It has 22k miles on it. It drives very nicely.
I’ve found one thing about it that is just outrageous: the speedometer.
The thing is a normal circle of numbers with a pointer. It goes from 0 to 140 MPH. They use just under 3/4’s of the circle for the number range. Zero is down (6 o’clock); 140 is between 2 and 3 o’clock. And the number that is straight up? 100 MPH. The actual useful range of the speedometer is about [———-] that far.
Fortunately they also include a digital speedometer in the display, which then makes me wonder why they wasted 1/3rd of the useful display space on a speedometer that is both redundant and useless.
Otherwise the car is working fine.
