This headline from the Washington Post using scare quotes around the word leadership is a succinct example of editorializing presented as news.

If our leader can use quotes when saying Obama “wires tapped” him in a wholly unsubstantiated tweet, I don’t see it as a thing. Its quite like it was with the verbal foibles of Bush – the standards are lower when we expect less of someone. By contrast, we expect the legitimate press to be perfect?
