Politics

[Today’s run: 12 miles]

My wife is telling me that I just need to ignore politics for awhile.

We were listening to This American Life today while driving to have an ice cream.  And the story was about a guy who works for an organization that tried to get pro-USA Iraqi citizens out of Iraq after the general end of american military involvement.

Anyway, the guy talks about how he was beating his head against a wall trying to get the Obama administration to do like other nations did:  fly out the most threatened former employees and friends in Iraq and sort them out, give them asylum or relocation to some other country.

And he goes through a case where someone who worked for an American company is eventually killed for his cooperation with the US, all while trying to get asylum.

The Obama administration stonewalls the whole thing, eventually shutting down communication with this guy and his group and other groups.   That happened in the fall/winter of 2011.

But of course we didn’t hear anything about this during the election last year, that the Obama administration was hanging our friends out to dry.

Some did. Why did the political opposition not use it in the 2012 campaign?

Mother Jones is left leaning:

Boston Globe is not a small paper in small market:

NYT has national distribution:
