Today’s Run: \u00a02.05 miles<\/p>\n
I have made a discovery. \u00a0Toenails are overrated.<\/p>\n
I (thanks to last weekends race) am losing three toenails. \u00a0The two next to my big toes have been causing me grief for a couple of months and are a lovely shade of black. \u00a0The big toe on my left foot is\u00a0aggressively leaving my toe without the drama of color variations. \u00a0Bummer.<\/p>\n
I found these things called toe caps. \u00a0I purchased them through roadrunnersports.com (an excellent site by the way). \u00a0They really work well. \u00a0They are a silicone sleeve that you slide over your toe. \u00a0They are soft and you can cut them to fit your toe. \u00a0Anyway, my two toes that have been causing me discomfort for a while have been managed with the use of these toe caps. \u00a0I have never had any problems with my big toes until this past weekend.<\/p>\n
The hills on the half marathon course were unbelievable! \u00a0Steep up and steep down~for 13.1 miles. \u00a0THAT is why my toes are in such sad shape. \u00a0No reflection on the toe caps. \u00a0If I had not had those, I shudder to think…ick.<\/p>\n
So, now that you all feel much closer to me now that I have shared this with you, I will close with this comforting thought~we have another race this weekend. \u00a0It is just a 5K but there are more hills. \u00a0Hope my toe caps hold!<\/p>\n
