<\/a><\/p>\nToday’s Run: \u00a013.1 miles<\/p>\n
Today was the day that we FINALLY ran that half marathon. \u00a0It was called the LEO Run to Remember and boy, was it a run to remember!<\/p>\n
This was my very first half marathon. \u00a0I have done some 5K’s, 10K’s and one 12K, but this was my first “long distance” race. \u00a0My husband has done the 5K, 10K and 12K distances along with three half marathons and also a few full marathons. \u00a0So, this was a walk in the park for him.<\/p>\n
We had a few concerns about this race. \u00a0The big one was the hills. \u00a0They were huge! \u00a0And there were a lot of them. \u00a0The second concern was traffic control. \u00a0Almost half of the race was on a four lane highway. \u00a0Scary. \u00a0The hills, well, training for those was our responsibility. The traffic control was out of our hands. \u00a0They did an excellent job of traffic control and as far as training was concerned, we were well prepared.<\/p>\n
We were hoping to finish the course in 3 1\/2 hours, maybe 4. \u00a0We finished the race in 2:56! \u00a0Yeah! \u00a0Under our expected time!<\/p>\n
My sister drove two hours (with our son, a friend and our niece and one nephew) just to take our picture as we crossed the finish line! \u00a0Cool Beans! \u00a0That was an excellent thing to do! \u00a0So a huge thank you to all who rode in the car to cheer us on!<\/a><\/p>\n
