Today’s Run: \u00a04.20 miles<\/p>\n

Today was a day of mowing. \u00a0Actually it was a day of yard work but primarily a day of mowing. \u00a0Mowing our property takes on average two complete hours.<\/p>\n

We have just a little shy of two acres and lots of obstacles to mow around. \u00a0The East side of the house is a joy, there is nothing but straight passes and you can try to get the lines from the mower ruler straight. \u00a0The South side of the house is where we have been building the pergola\/arbor and there are still a few board and markers in the yard so you have to stay on your toes. \u00a0The West side is not much fun. \u00a0There are the wild plum trees, one ham radio tower, three guy wires and four crepe myrtles to traverse. \u00a0Tricky. \u00a0The North side (front of the house) is smallish and just straight passes again.<\/p>\n

The trickiest part of the yard is the SE corner of the house right up to the field. \u00a0That is where the bee hives are. \u00a0Mowing around the bees is a delicate thing. \u00a0You never know what kind of mood they will be in and finding the time of day with the right temperature, wind, sunshine, luck…fools tread lightly. \u00a0So I put it off as long as possible.<\/p>\n

Today was the day. \u00a0I HAD to mow around the bees. \u00a0The grass was a bit higher than my knees and there is just no excuse for me letting it get that high. \u00a0Yes, that means “suiting up” in the middle of the day and hoping for the best. \u00a0And that is what I did. \u00a0Right after lunch. \u00a0Then right after folding a load of laundry. \u00a0Then running the sweeper after that…Alright. \u00a0I stalled quite a while then finally went out and did it.<\/p>\n

Only got “buzzed” a couple of times. \u00a0No stings! \u00a0The bees were in a good mood! \u00a0Success. \u00a0If it turns cool enough, enough maybe I can put it off again until next season?\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
