Three years ago in the\u00a0 Spring of 2015, I qualified as a Half Fanatic.\u00a0 I didn’t set out to become a Half Fanatic, it just kind of fell into my lap.\u00a0 See, I ran two half marathons a week apart from each other.\u00a0 The reason I ran those races was to meet up with friends.\u00a0 The races were fun but meeting up with friends was tons of fun!!!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Me, being the “Type A” person that I am decided that if I was a Half Fanatic, I should become a Marathon Maniac, too!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

My first attempt at becoming a MM (Marathon Maniac) didn’t quite work out.<\/p>\n

See, I do a lot of #RunnersMath.\u00a0 Now, when I’m out running, that generally works out, “close enough.”\u00a0 When trying to qualify for MM, “close enough” isn’t quite close enough.<\/p>\n

I ran the Berlin Marathon in the fall of 2015 and then, 3 weeks later, ran MCM (Marine Corps Marathon).\u00a0 I thought for sure I had my MM status in the bag.<\/p>\n

Nope!<\/p>\n

Turns out I was 3 days past the “allowed” time frame to qualify.\u00a0 No Exceptions.<\/p>\n

Rats!<\/p>\n

The past two years, something has always happened that has thrown a wrench in the monkey works for me to get my Marathon Maniac number.<\/p>\n

Here we are in 2018 and I’m going to give it another shot.<\/p>\n

Now, when I line up my annual race schedule, I’ve never once done it with my MM status in mind.\u00a0 I just run my events and do the happy dance if I might get close to qualifying.<\/p>\n

Guess what!?!<\/p>\n

This year~if nothing weird happens to mess things up~I just might get my Marathon Maniac status!<\/p>\n

YAY!!!<\/p>\n

In 17 days, I’ll be meeting up with a bunch of Twitter friends and running the Phoenix Marathon!\u00a0 I’m soooo excited!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This kid has never been to Phoenix before so this is going to be all sorts of new stuff!\u00a0 This will also be race #1 towards qualifying for Marathon Maniac status.<\/p>\n

The very next Saturday, I’ll be running the MS50 Trail Run.<\/p>\n

The MS50 offers three different distances: 20k. 50k and 50M.\u00a0 I’ll be running the 50k.<\/p>\n

I know this event well.\u00a0 I’ve run it twice and volunteered once.\u00a0 It’s tons of fun!\u00a0 I very dearly love this race!\u00a0 It can be a tad muddy but that just adds to its charm.\u00a0 I mean, who doesn’t love channeling their inner child for a fun 32 mile run?<\/p>\n

Gotta love the water crossings at the MS50!\u00a0 I can’t wait!!!<\/p>\n

Those are my plans for the last weekend in February and the first weekend in March.\u00a0 Doesn’t that sound great!?!<\/p>\n

With all of that in mind, I’ll be flying off to Phoenix in 15 days!!!<\/p>\n

Seeing as my new pooch, Tess, loves her walks, I’m looking forward to taking her for her walk\/runs with the SPIleash!\u00a0 Both of us are going to be soooo spoiled!<\/p>\n

When I get my new SPIleash, I’ll be sure to post pics with Tess out on a walk\/run with it.\u00a0 She’ll be the envy of every dog in the neighborhood!<\/p>\n

Tomorrow is a long run day.\u00a0 We have 90% chance of rain.\u00a0 It’ll be a duck weather running day for sure!\u00a0 Looking forward to a soggy 18 miler tomorrow.\u00a0 #BuildsCharacter.<\/p>\n
