MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I landed at Heathrow Airport after a 15 hour flight and 3 hours driving from our house to the Birmingham, Alabama, airport. \u00a0We were a little tired around the edges but super excited to begin our new adventure in the UK!<\/p>\n

First things first was getting through customs. \u00a0To get through customs, you have to survive the incredibly long line to get to the customs agent. \u00a0It took forever!!! \u00a0Once we got there, we were greeted by a chatty boarder agent. \u00a0*If you want to know this man’s wedding anniversary, how many children he has and where he goes to church, just give me a shout!<\/p>\n

Once we had satisfactorily answered his questions, we were rewarded with a nice, new stamp in our passports. \u00a0YAY!!!<\/p>\n

Now, a friend of mine very graciously arranged for his cousin, who is a chauffeur, to pick us up at Heathrow and drive us to our hotel. \u00a0How nice was that!?! \u00a0It really was SUPER nice because MFH and I were toast. \u00a0It was terrific to have that all arranged for us.<\/p>\n

The cousin bundled us into his vehicle and drove us along the M25 to our hotel.<\/p>\n

Our hotel was in the Westfield Mall next to the Stratford Tube Station. When I had made our hotel arrangements, I had no idea how convenient our hotel was going to be. \u00a0Sweet! \u00a0We were able to take a 10 minute walk and simply hop on the tube to wherever we need to be. \u00a0Easy Peasy!!!<\/p>\n

The very next morning after we arrived, that same friend offered to take us on a ride on his tube. \u00a0He drives the tube each day and wanted us to see what it was like.<\/p>\n

He and I had been FB friends for quite a while and had met in real life in Berlin for the Berlin Marathon last September. \u00a0We had tons of fun in Germany!!!<\/p>\n

After picking up some coffee, #doubleespressoamaerican, he gave us a ride in the “cab” of the tube. \u00a0Passengers, as a rule, weren’t allowed in here so this was a huge treat!!! \u00a0*thanks again for the ride, Doug!<\/p>\n

After the tube ride (which was pretty awesome!), MFH and I decided to do some sightseeing. \u00a0We WERE tourists, after all!<\/p>\n

We went to the Queen’s House in Greenwhich~Too cool!!!<\/p>\n

Then off to the Maritime Museum. \u00a0We saw the Royal Observatory. \u00a0All of it was way beyond what I can explain. \u00a0It was just that awesome!!!<\/p>\n

I think that was probably MFH’s favorite touristy thing we did.<\/p>\n

Next, it was off to Trafalgar Square. \u00a0I got goosebumps there for two reasons. \u00a0One, it was COLD! \u00a0and two, I couldn’t believe I was at Trafalgar Square!!! \u00a0*I’m such a dork*<\/p>\n

We went and looked at paintings and the National Gallery. \u00a0I’m a huge Rembrandt fan. \u00a0MFH likes stuff a little bit more modern. \u00a0Lucky for us, they had both! \u00a0#winning<\/p>\n

While we were there, I found a painting that I would swear was a predecessor of Paxton. \u00a0What do you think? \u00a0I bet that dog is just waiting for a Nutty Bar!<\/p>\n

The last totally touristy stunt I pulled that day was standing in the middle of the road to take this pic:<\/p>\n

I wanted to see what the finish line would look like before they put everything up for the race. \u00a0I ran down that exact spot!!! \u00a0That kind of stuff gives me chills. \u00a0I love it!!!<\/p>\n

While there, MFH and I tried lots of local food. \u00a0I like everything pretty well except mushy peas. \u00a0I tried three different restaurants to like those green things. \u00a0Just couldn’t do it. \u00a0*shiver* \u00a0No offense to my UK friends intended!!! \u00a0Everything else was wonderful and delicious!<\/p>\n

Met lots of other friends over the course of our 10 day visit!!! \u00a0They all were simply wonderful and made our visit so special!<\/p>\n

This guy jumped through hoops to meet up after his trip to the Expo. \u00a0It was great to met you Jason!!!<\/p>\n

Mark took us on a tour of the Olympic Park. \u00a0 This was where the Olympics was held when it was in London. \u00a0Very cool tour!!! \u00a0Thanks again, Mark!!!<\/p>\n

We visited Big Ben. \u00a0(Big Ben is BIG!)<\/p>\n

AND, I rode the London Eye!!!<\/p>\n

Now, MFH didn’t want to ride the London Eye. \u00a0I did. \u00a0We were agreeing to disagree on the London Eye thing but then, my friend, Lou, well, she saved the day! \u00a0Lou, her son and I rode the London eye together while MFH was content to keep his feet on terra firma. \u00a0You can see him on the ground. \u00a0The guy with the yellow cap? \u00a0That’s MFH. \u00a0He’s the cutest!!!<\/p>\n
