This morning I had to get my tail out the door. \u00a0There was the matter of 12 miles to run before I had to zoom out the door for church.<\/p>\n

MFH (My Favorite Husband) got up earlier than usual so he could make our Sunday morning pancakes. \u00a0He’s been making pancakes almost every Sunday morning the entire 31+ years we’ve been married.<\/p>\n

We ate the pancakes, I threw on my running stuff, mixed up some Tailwind and flew out the door.<\/p>\n

I had decided that since it was cooler weather (by Mississippi standards), that I would head east and run Limerock Road.<\/p>\n

I avoid Limerock like the plague during the hot months. \u00a0This stretch of road is tough! \u00a0When it’s summer, it gets plain ugly. \u00a0As a matter of fact, a few summers ago, I tried to run Limerock and I had vultures circling overhead! \u00a0I kid you not!!!! \u00a0Limerock is hard. \u00a0It’s super pretty but it’s hard.<\/p>\n

Seeing as the temps were kind of runner friendly, I decided to give Limerock a shot.<\/p>\n

The first 10K I held my own and I was thinking to myself that maybe today I would conquer Limerock. \u00a0I made it to where it dead ends and turned around. \u00a0THAT’s when I remembered why this road is soooo hard.<\/p>\n

Up until this point, almost the entire run had been downhill. \u00a0That meant the rest of the run, the part where I’m tired from running, would be all uphill. \u00a0YAY?<\/p>\n

I started trudging home.<\/p>\n

I have to say, one of the reasons I keep coming back to this route is because it’s so pretty! \u00a0At the very end of the road, the trees canopy the the street. \u00a0The sunshine dapples on the road. \u00a0I just love it!<\/p>\n

I finally made it back to Evans Road and some easier running but my tank was on empty. \u00a0Lucky for me, the cow farmer was trying to encourage about a dozen cattle off a trailer. \u00a0He was taking them to a different field to graze.<\/p>\n

I stopped to watch the cattle be unloaded. \u00a0The farmer saw me and we started chatting. \u00a0This is the story I told him:<\/p>\n

I had two relatives, we’re going to call them Uncles. \u00a0One of them raised cattle in southern Iowa. \u00a0The other was a hog producer in northern Iowa.<\/p>\n

When I was a little girl, we went to visit the Uncle in southern Iowa and his cattle. \u00a0He was kind and let me get up early to help him feed the cows. \u00a0I can remember stradling that old wooden fence, sitting on the fence post.<\/p>\n

He gave me a bucket of feed and told me to spread it in the trough. \u00a0So, I did!<\/p>\n

The cows were soooo happy for their breakfast! \u00a0One came up and give me a big ol’ cow kiss~~~right on the cheek! \u00a0I’ll never forget it!!! \u00a0*Did you know cows have scratchy tongues like cats? \u00a0I didn’t either until then.*<\/p>\n

The Uncle up north, the Uncle with the hogs? \u00a0He was always wanting to host the family reunion at his place. \u00a0Year after year, we all politely declined. \u00a0Hogs are noisy and smelly. \u00a0NOT a place for a family reunion.<\/p>\n

Anyway, the cow farmer this morning thought that was hilarious. \u00a0We shared a laugh. \u00a0He closed the door on his trailer and I wrapped up my run.<\/p>\n
