That was the question my neighbor asked MFH (My Favorite Husband) last night at the MSU (Mississippi State University) football game. \u00a0(#HAILSTATE)<\/p>\n

They had been discussing my dark o’clock running. You know, my runs that start at 1:00am and end around 5:00am.<\/p>\n

I often meet that particular neighbor during these runs. \u00a0He owns a trucking business so he’s up at those hours getting his truck ready for the day. \u00a0We’ll pass each other on the road~me waving at him and he tooting his truck horn at me.<\/p>\n

I never gave it a second thought! \u00a0It was just so nice to meet another soul on the road…aside from the snakes, bats, armadillos, raccoons, skunks, etc. \u00a0A real person was one of the highlights of the run.<\/p>\n

MFH said that our neighbor asked if I carried a gun with me while I ran (especially at night). \u00a0MFH had replied with the truth. I carry pepper spray with me on my night runs. \u00a0During the daytime runs, I don’t carry anything with me.<\/p>\n

Our neighbor shook his head and asked, “Don’t you worry about her running in the middle of the night by herself?”<\/p>\n

MFH and I had a chuckle about this. \u00a0NOT because MFH doesn’t worry about me. \u00a0Not at all!!! \u00a0We chuckled about me carrying my gun.<\/p>\n

Guns are heavy. \u00a0Guns are dangerous! \u00a0Sure, there are special sports bras and abdominal wrap things a woman can wear to holster a gun for running but Holy Cow! \u00a0It’s hot in Mississippi! \u00a0Why do you think I’m running in the middle of the night in the first place!?!<\/p>\n

The thought of one of those wraps around my tummy makes me overheat just thinking about it and the sports bra holster? \u00a0Visions of major chafing!!! \u00a0Nope. \u00a0A cute pink pepper spray will suffice. \u00a0Thank you.<\/p>\n

So, I got to giggling at this point. \u00a0I decided if I carried my gun on a run, I’d have to put it in my hydration vest. \u00a0Let’s look at, if confronted by somebody, how this would go down.<\/p>\n

I’d have to take off my hydration vest and first off hope I opened the right pocket to retrieve my gun. \u00a0So, now I’m armed. \u00a0Goody for me. \u00a0I’m ready to confront my “threat.”<\/p>\n

WAIT!<\/p>\n

I would have had to pause my Garmin first so as to not mess up my overall running time!<\/p>\n

Having to pause my Garmin makes me grumpy.<\/p>\n

This guy is walking on thin ice before I even TRY to find my gun in my hydration vest!<\/p>\n

That’s all so silly!!! \u00a0Why would I mess with all of that!?!<\/p>\n

“Oh! \u00a0Excuse me Mr. Threat. \u00a0I need to pause my Garmin and then find my gun in my hydration vest.”<\/p>\n

Forget that noise. \u00a0Just blast him with the pepper spray and get it over with.<\/p>\n

Just sayin’.<\/p>\n

So, no. \u00a0MFH doesn’t worry about me when I’m out running by myself. \u00a0I don’t worry either.<\/p>\n

There’s a not of nonsense happening in the world these days. \u00a0I’m very well aware of the “odds” of something happening but I refuse to live in fear.<\/p>\n

If something were to happen to me while I was out on a run? \u00a0Just know, I was out doing something I love!<\/p>\n

So silly approach to a serious topic.<\/p>\n
