{"id":3379,"date":"2015-09-15T14:24:52","date_gmt":"2015-09-15T19:24:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=3379"},"modified":"2015-09-15T14:24:52","modified_gmt":"2015-09-15T19:24:52","slug":"best-friendspaxton-and-kali","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=3379","title":{"rendered":"Best Friends~Paxton and Kali"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have had a particularly hot and humid summer in my part of Mississippi. \u00a0It been challenging to be outdoors during the daytime hours. \u00a0It has been especially tough on my puppy, Paxton.<\/p>\n<p>Paxton has a difficult time breathing in weather extremes. \u00a0If it is super hot, he overheats easily. \u00a0If it is super cold, he can&#8217;t stay warm enough. \u00a0The weather polar opposites give him fits so there are times during the year when he only goes outdoors to do his &#8220;Good Boy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Paxton and I had been going to walks on a regular basis in the evenings before the weather heated up. \u00a0My pampered, pudgy pooch had been walking pretty close to a mile each evening! \u00a0That&#8217;s a long way for him!<\/p>\n<p>While we were in the habit of our evening walks, we picked up another companion. \u00a0Kali. \u00a0Our dark colored kitty. \u00a0She took it upon herself to tag along on these walks. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know if she was just coming along for the fun of it or if she was making sure all was well&#8230;who knows. \u00a0All I know is that each evening when we set out we would soon hear Kali bringing up the rear.<\/p>\n<p>The first time she came along, it was funny! \u00a0We were walking on our road and behind us I heard: \u00a0&#8220;Jingle, jingle, jingle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It was the little bell on Kali&#8217;s collar.<\/p>\n<p>Then I would hear a breathless, &#8220;Mew!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wait for me! \u00a0I want to come, too!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Paxton and I stopped and waited for her to catch up.<\/p>\n<p>As the day&#8217;s progressed, Kali became a regular on our walks. \u00a0Mind you, if I called her and told her it was time for our walk, she would turn her kitty nose up in the air like she had no idea what I was talking about. \u00a0If we didn&#8217;t tell her we were leaving she&#8217;d be right there tagging along.<\/p>\n<p>What a silly kitty!<\/p>\n<p>The weather is finally cooling off here in Mississippi so last night Paxton and I started our evening walks again. \u00a0There was no way he could walk his mile last night. \u00a0He was checking out the field at the end of our street. \u00a0The cows often are in the field and he likes to go visit them. \u00a0They were not there last night. \u00a0They were in a field further down the road so Paxton didn&#8217;t have the motivation of visiting the cows to keep walking.<\/p>\n<p>We had passed &#8220;Mama&#8217;s house&#8221; when sure enough, behind us I heard, &#8220;Jingle, jingle, jingle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Paxton and I stopped and looked behind us. There was Kali. \u00a0She was moving pretty quick. \u00a0She was doing her kitty best to catch up. \u00a0She had missed our evening walks! \u00a0She had not forgotten about them!<\/p>\n<p>We waited for her.<\/p>\n<p>We made it as far as that first field, the one without the cows, when Paxton decided that was far enough and turned back towards home.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d guess those two walked a quarter mile? \u00a0Not very far. They had a great time, though!<\/p>\n<p>Best.
