{"id":3289,"date":"2015-08-05T19:12:22","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T00:12:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=3289"},"modified":"2015-08-05T19:12:22","modified_gmt":"2015-08-06T00:12:22","slug":"funny-story-20-miles-on-a-treadmill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=3289","title":{"rendered":"Funny Story: 20 Miles on a TreadMill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I think I had mentioned to you that I had been able to obtain a free 3 day pass to our local YMCA. \u00a0I used that on Monday to do my tempo run. \u00a0It was a success!<\/p>\n<p>Contemplating the rest of my training schedule, I realized I had a 20 mile training run for today (Wednesday). \u00a0It&#8217;s still running in the 100* every day here in Mississippi. \u00a0That meant another 1:30 am training run.<\/p>\n<p>Ugh.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing as MFH (My Favorite Husband) is still out of town, I really didn&#8217;t want to be running that time of day\/night without him being near. \u00a0The treadmill (TM) option was looking very attractive.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s face it, running on a TM is BORING. \u00a0 \u00a0It has two nicknames that pop into my head immediately: \u00a0Dreadmill (DM) and Satan&#8217;s Sidewalk. \u00a0Both names are accurate.<\/p>\n<p>I threw caution to the wind and decided to be bored to tears and get my run in the A\/C for my long run.<\/p>\n<p>I arrived at the &#8220;Y.&#8221; \u00a0The front desk people remembered me so I didn&#8217;t have to jump through hoops this time to get in. \u00a0They asked me how many miles I would be running today. \u00a0I told them. \u00a0That&#8217;s when their jaws dropped.<\/p>\n<p>Funny.<\/p>\n<p>They asked me how long I thought it would take. \u00a0I shrugged and gave an estimate time. \u00a0I had my, &#8220;I&#8217;d love to run this fast&#8221; time and then a more realistic time. \u00a0I gave them the realistic time and toddled off to the TM&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>I was making pretty good time on that TM! \u00a0I&#8217;m here to tell you, running when it&#8217;s not a bazillion degrees and the humidity isn&#8217;t waaayyy high, it&#8217;s not so bad! \u00a0Almost (almost!) makes me ready for fall running.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I was clicking off the miles and feeling pretty good about it. \u00a0I mean, I was getting tired and everything but I wasn&#8217;t so bored that I was falling asleep&#8230;the run was just going well.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I clicked off mile 19. \u00a0YAY!!! \u00a0Only one more mile to go! \u00a0BOOM! \u00a0I wanted to be done so I jacked up the speed on the TM. \u00a0I would be over and done with the run in eight minutes (if I didn&#8217;t fly off the back of the thing. \u00a0I was moving pretty much at my max). \u00a0That when I noticed the front desk people come into the room and stand by the TM. \u00a0Their shift was done.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How many miles have you run?&#8221; \u00a0I looked at my Garmin and told them I had a half mile to go and then I would be done. \u00a0I thought that was the end of it. \u00a0Nope! \u00a0They stayed by the TM! \u00a0They stood there until I clicked over to 20 miles, shut off my Garmin and turned off the TM.<\/p>\n<p>Then they clapped!!!<\/p>\n<p>Yes, I was embarrassed.<\/p>\n<p>They wanted to know how long it took: \u00a03:18:23.<\/p>\n<p>Their eyes got big and they made, &#8220;Ooohhh&#8221; and &#8220;Ahhh&#8221; noises.<\/p>\n<p>I was getting uncomfortable and ready for them to leave. \u00a0I was hot, tired, hungry and thirsty. \u00a0They wanted to chat about running.<\/p>\n<p>*sigh*<\/p>\n<p>I chatted with them a little bit and then wished them a good day.<\/p>\n<p>Then I came home and drank a ton of water and ate all the food.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s my funny story. \u00a0If I hadn&#8217;t of been so tired, it probably would&#8217;ve hit my funny bone more than it did. \u00a0They were very kind AND let me monopolize that TM the entire time. \u00a0Not many places would have done that.<\/p>\n<p>Good people!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I think I had mentioned to you that I had been able to obtain a free 3 day pass to our local YMCA. \u00a0I used that on Monday to do my tempo run. \u00a0It was a success!
