The plan, as it stood last night, was to go to bed around 8:00. \u00a0I had set my alarm for 3:30 am and was going to run 13 miles before it got super hot. \u00a0We are under heat advisories for the week. \u00a0The weather (heat\/humidity) we are having right now is no joke. \u00a0The heat index values are supposed to be 110* all week (along with Mississippi’s lovely humidity!) so any running needed to be done at early o’clock.<\/p>\n

I put Paxton out for the night so he could do his last “good boy.” When he was back in the house, I went to bed.<\/p>\n

Both of the cats were in the house as well.<\/p>\n

I fell asleep immediately. \u00a0I was already pretty tired. \u00a0I was looking forward to a good nights sleep.<\/p>\n

RIIIIIIINNGG!!!!!<\/p>\n

I opened an eye. \u00a0It was 8:30 pm and my phone was ringing.<\/p>\n

*groan*<\/p>\n

I answered the phone.<\/p>\n

“Hello?”<\/p>\n

“Congratulations! \u00a0You have won an all expense paid trip to the Bahamas!”<\/p>\n

Click.<\/p>\n

I hung up on the cheerful recording.<\/p>\n

Went back to sleep.<\/p>\n

RIIIIINNNNGGG!!!! \u00a09:15 pm<\/p>\n

*ugh*<\/p>\n

REALLY!?!<\/p>\n

“This is Bridgette with card holder services…”<\/p>\n

*click* \u00a0My poor phone. \u00a0I may have slammed it down.<\/p>\n

10:30 PM<\/p>\n

“Prrrrr…”<\/p>\n

It was Castro. \u00a0He wanted out.<\/p>\n

I got up, staggered to the door and let him out.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, some uninterrupted sleep. \u00a0I did some mental math and figured how much sleep I could get before the alarm went off. \u00a0Asleep immediately. \u00a0I did not pass “Go” and did not collect $200.00.<\/p>\n

*BOINK!*<\/p>\n

I was wide awake!<\/p>\n

I look at my clock. \u00a02:30 am<\/p>\n

2:30!?! \u00a0Noooooo!!!!!<\/p>\n

I knew if I went back to sleep for just one hour, I would feel awful for my run so I threw in the towel and got up. \u00a0Toast, coffee, fed the animals and bounded out the door before 3:30 am.<\/p>\n

I groaned when I look at the thermometer before starting the run. \u00a0It was already 80* \u00a0I couldn’t believe it! \u00a0How could it be 80* at 3:30 in the morning!?! \u00a0That was the whole reason I was getting up at this time of day. \u00a0Nothing to do but go get the miles done.<\/p>\n

The run itself was uneventful. \u00a0I was hoping for an 11:30 pace but with it already at 80*, I was content with my 12:11 pace.<\/p>\n

I staggered back into the house to a hungry Paxton and cat, Kali. \u00a0Goodness! \u00a0They hadn’t eaten in close to three hours! \u00a0#Animalabuse \u00a0So I fed them. \u00a0Changed into some dry clothes and crashed on the bed. \u00a0I thought I would try to catch a little bit more sleep.<\/p>\n

RIIIIINNNNGGG!!!!<\/p>\n

NOOOOOO!!!!<\/p>\n

It was #1 son. \u00a0He was getting ready to go to class. \u00a0He is taking summer classes at Mississippi State University to bump up his graduation time. \u00a0He was just calling to shoot the breeze a little bit. \u00a0I tried to chat for a little bit but to be honest, it was a fail. \u00a0He laughed at me and let me go back to sleep.<\/p>\n

Clank. Vroom. Bow-Wow-Wow!!!<\/p>\n

The garbage men pulled up. \u00a0Paxton was letting me know they were here.<\/p>\n

Thanks, Paxton.<\/p>\n

Tried to sleep some more. \u00a0RIIIINNNNGGG!!!<\/p>\n

I had won ANOTHER trip to the Bahamas!<\/p>\n

It is now 2:45 PM. \u00a0I’m very sleepy. \u00a0I’d really like a nap! \u00a0If I fall asleep now, though, that means that I won’t be able to sleep tonight.<\/p>\n

THAT, people, is my sad, sad tale of the day.<\/p>\n
