First off, Happy Memorial Day! \u00a0My heartfelt thanks to all of you who have served. \u00a0You are true heroes!<\/p>\n

MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I returned from our little 30th Wedding Anniversary weekend get-away yesterday evening. \u00a0We had a lovely time! \u00a0Seeing as today was a holiday and MFH had the day off, we decided that we would run together for a bit.<\/p>\n

I left the house before MFH because I needed to add some miles onto what we had decided to do together. \u00a0We met up at the intersection of Robinson and Evans and headed off together towards Schaeffer’s Chapel.<\/p>\n

You all know I LOVE running to Schaeffer’s Chapel. \u00a0It is my most favorite run!!! \u00a0Seriously! \u00a0There is a variety of road surfaces. \u00a0There is the invigorating stretches of running on the sides of a 4 lane highway and then finally your destination (until you turn around to go home, that is), Schaeffer’s Chapel.<\/p>\n

This little Chapel is in the literal middle of nowhere. \u00a0It is surrounded by fields and cattle but it is the cutest little Chapel you’ll find anywhere! \u00a0I love running there. \u00a0It makes me smile to see the Chapel. \u00a0It makes me happy.<\/p>\n

Any day I run to Schaeffer’s Chapel is a good day.<\/p>\n

Anyway, we headed off towards the Chapel. \u00a0We were having such a great time running together. \u00a0Seeing as we don’t get to do that much anymore, it is a special treat.<\/p>\n

We reached the Chapel and I ran an extra half mile while MFH rested at the Chapel for me to return. \u00a0See, I have these little “add on’s” when I run. \u00a0We can run the same route together but I’ll take a little detour here and there to get more mileage. \u00a0This was one of those places. \u00a0If I go just a little past the Chapel, where the asphalt ends and the road turns to gravel, turn around and return, I get and extra half mile out of that. \u00a0That’s like FREE miles! \u00a0Sorta.<\/p>\n

The part where you run past the Chapel and run to the gravel is all uphill. \u00a0MFH doesn’t like that. \u00a0He’d rather wait at the Chapel for me to do that little part and start running with me as I come back. \u00a0Works for us!<\/p>\n

As I was coming back down the hill, MFH took a few pics of me running in front of the Chapel. \u00a0One of them came out okay. \u00a0I’ll share it at the end of the post.<\/p>\n

We returned home and MFH finished his run. \u00a0I had 4 more miles to do. \u00a0I figured I’d just do passes on my road. \u00a0The weather was looking iffy and I wanted to be close to the house.<\/p>\n

My plan today was 12 miles. \u00a0I had just completed mile 11 when the tornado warning app on my phone went off. \u00a0Yikes! \u00a0Hmmm…did I have time to do one more mile before the storm hit? \u00a0I told myself, “That’s crazy talk! \u00a0GO HOME!”<\/p>\n

So, I did.<\/p>\n

Today’s 12 miler ended up being 11.45 miles. \u00a0Sooooo close to my goal but trying to outrun a tornado would probably end up with me losing. \u00a0HA!<\/p>\n

This is what actually came about as a result of the tornado warning. \u00a0It went a bit north of me. \u00a0http:\/\/www.wtva.com\/news\/national\/story\/Tornado-touchdown-in-Monroe-County\/bzrjQUErn0-MzCocpQ9Qtw.cspx<\/p>\n

Tomorrow, a quick 5 before I have a Dr’s appointment at 9:00. \u00a0This will take me to 900 miles for the calendar year.<\/p>\n
