{"id":3141,"date":"2015-05-19T13:56:25","date_gmt":"2015-05-19T18:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=3141"},"modified":"2015-05-19T13:56:25","modified_gmt":"2015-05-19T18:56:25","slug":"gearing-up-for-berlin-and-mcm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=3141","title":{"rendered":"Gearing Up For Berlin and MCM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ever since my Ultra on March 7, I&#8217;ve been playing with my miles. \u00a0Sure, I&#8217;ve raced 2 Half Marathons and a 10K since then, but those distances are just another training distance for me, so I didn&#8217;t specifically train for those races. \u00a0I just went out and ran them.<\/p>\n<p>It was nice to just be able to go and run a race&#8230;not having to fret about the distance, the taper (I am soooo bad at the taper!), the pre-race dreams&#8230; Those last three races, yes, I ran my little legs off, but I didn&#8217;t officially train for them.<\/p>\n<p>When I stop and think about it, I have pretty much been in official training mode since last February~since I got off those crutches a year ago this past winter. \u00a0That&#8217;s a long time to be training!<\/p>\n<p>I ran my first Ultra July 26 of last year. \u00a0The plan was to have 6 weeks to just maintain my fitness and go into the Chicago Marathon in October looking good. \u00a0Plans rarely go how you want them and I ended up with that nasty concussion a week after the Ultra. \u00a0I found myself scrambling to get ready for Chicago in, I&#8217;m trying to remember, 3 weeks? \u00a0Not a very long time anyway. \u00a0I ran Chicago with that concussion. \u00a0Not a bright move but what were the odds that I would ever be able to get into that race again!?! \u00a0Nope. \u00a0I HAD to run it!<\/p>\n<p>After Chicago, I fiddled around until mid November. \u00a0I knew I had a marathon on Valentine&#8217;s Day and then another Ultra three weeks later on March 7. \u00a0I decided that I probably should figure out when I needed to begin training for that marathon.<\/p>\n<p>Oops! \u00a0I never should have taken the time off! \u00a0Haha! \u00a0Within the next couple of days, I found myself mid-marathon training and pulling a 16 mile run out of my hat. \u00a0The miles just increased from there. \u00a0I ran the marathon and then the Ultra. \u00a0Then I put myself on maintenance ever since.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, I&#8217;ve been running 10 milers 5 day&#8217;s a week OR four 10 milers and a couple of smaller runs tossed in for grins.<\/p>\n<p>This week, I chatted with my coach. \u00a0Training for the Berlin Marathon and the Marine Corp Marathon (MCM) officially begins July 5. \u00a0HOWEVER:<\/p>\n<p>Haha!!!, Yes, however, he said that my first long run the week of July 5 will be a 17 miler.<\/p>\n<p>Like I said, training officially begins July 5. \u00a0Between now and then, I have to start doing some long runs. \u00a0I need to be ready to belt out a 17 miler by then. \u00a0That gives me 6 weeks to jump from my regular 10 milers to 17 miles.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m thinking that tomorrow I will have to do 13 seeing as Wednesday is my long run day. \u00a0I&#8217;ll gradually increase distance from there. \u00a0Aye yie yie~~~How do I get myself into these pickles!?!<\/p>\n<p>My goal for the Berlin Marathon is between 4:45 (that&#8217;s my Ultimate goal~my dream big goal) to 4:50. \u00a0This would be my first time ever breaking 5 hrs. \u00a0MCM I&#8217;m running for the fun of it. \u00a0It&#8217;s a month after Berlin and quite frankly I don&#8217;t want to pound myself into the ground that soon after Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of fun, fun miles to cover between now and Sept 27!!! \u00a0Can&#8217;t wait!!!<\/p>\n<p>Happy Running!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?attachment_id=3142\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3142\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3142\" alt=\"11136760_787630168023788_7675199812351820621_n\" src=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/11136760_787630168023788_7675199812351820621_n.jpg\" width=\"960\" height=\"355\" srcset=\"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/11136760_787630168023788_7675199812351820621_n.jpg 960w, http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/11136760_787630168023788_7675199812351820621_n-300x110.jpg 300w, http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/11136760_787630168023788_7675199812351820621_n-500x184.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever since my Ultra on March 7, I&#8217;ve been playing with my miles. \u00a0Sure, I&#8217;ve raced 2 Half Marathons and a 10K since then, but those distances are just another training distance for me, so I didn&#8217;t specifically train for those races. \u00a0I just went out and ran them.
