{"id":2916,"date":"2015-02-18T13:48:51","date_gmt":"2015-02-18T19:48:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2916"},"modified":"2015-02-18T13:48:51","modified_gmt":"2015-02-18T19:48:51","slug":"silverlining","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/TM\/?p=2916","title":{"rendered":"#SilverLining"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning dawned bright and sunny! \u00a0It looked super pretty out there. \u00a0I was scheduled for a 14 miler, so I got myself ready and headed on out the door.<\/p>\n<p>If you remember, yesterday I had run a 6 mile recovery run from Saturday&#8217;s marathon. \u00a0My legs were very unhappy with me yesterday! \u00a0That run hurt like the dickens, but I got it done and then went and had my eye surgery in the \u00a0afternoon. \u00a0All was well.<\/p>\n<p>*Funny story about the eye surgery. \u00a0I was sitting in the waiting room while my eyes fuzzed. \u00a0It was rather crowded so we were packed in there pretty tight. \u00a0I was sitting next to a lady. \u00a0It didn&#8217;t take long before I realized she was very seriously out. \u00a0I mean, she was sound asleep! \u00a0She started snoring. \u00a0Poor lady. \u00a0She must&#8217;ve been waiting there for quite a while.*<\/p>\n<p>This morning, my coach had me scheduled for 14 miles. \u00a0Normally, that is a nice comfortable run so I bounded out the door with a skip in my step. \u00a0I went down the cul-de-sac (that is .33 miles and it feel like free mileage to me, so I hit it with every pass on my street. \u00a0Silly, I know.) and then headed on up my road. \u00a0I took a peek at my trusty Garmin and it said I was at an 11:00 pace. \u00a0Sweet!<\/p>\n<p>I had planned to run along Highway 45 S for a mile, cross the highway (if it wasn&#8217;t too busy) and run on over to Schaeffer&#8217;s Chapel. \u00a0I love running to the Chapel because it&#8217;s this pretty little Chapel out in the middle of no-where in Mississippi. \u00a0Running there makes me happy.<\/p>\n<p>When I hit Evans Road, however, I was met by a blast of strong wind. \u00a0Holy Cow! \u00a0I struggled through the wind to the top of Evans and turned onto Robinson Rd. \u00a0There is a little MB Church there a half mile away and I like to run to it&#8230;it feels like free mileage, too!<\/p>\n<p>I made it to the church on Robinson and retraced my steps all the way to the other end of Robinson where I would cross the Highway. \u00a0I stepped out onto the old part of the Highway (the part under construction). \u00a0This part of the run had no trees or anything. \u00a0It was completely exposed for the next 5(ish) miles. \u00a0I was almost blown over. \u00a0Nope. \u00a0This would not work, so I turned around.<\/p>\n<p>Hmmm&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I ended up fighting with that wind for 8.13 miles. \u00a0It was terrible!!!<\/p>\n<p>At about mile 5, my 11:00 pace was down to a 12:30 pace and was steadily dropping. \u00a0My legs were lead. \u00a0I wasn&#8217;t winded or anything. \u00a0The rest of me felt fine! \u00a0I think it was just having run the marathon on Sat. \u00a06 miles yesterday and then fighting that nasty wind today&#8230;it was too much.<\/p>\n<p>I cried &#8220;Uncle&#8221; at mile 8.13. \u00a0I felt like a failure. \u00a0Sometimes, the body just won&#8217;t do what you want it to do. \u00a0It is better to listen to the body than to try to force it into submission. \u00a0Today, I listened.<\/p>\n<p>When I came into the house, I looked up the NWS site only to discover that we were having sustained winds of 17 MPH with gusts of 30 MPH. \u00a0No wonder that run was so hard!<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I have a decision to make. \u00a0Tonight we have a low of 15. \u00a0The wind tomorrow morning is supposed to be 15 MPH with 20 MPH gusts. \u00a0Uber cold. \u00a0It is supposed to be a rest day. \u00a0BUT&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Friday I am supposed to run 8. \u00a0We are supposed to have freezing rain on Friday. \u00a0Ugh.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday (tomorrow) my sister and I are meeting for lunch so I can&#8217;t fiddle around in the morning and wait for it to warm up. \u00a0I have to hop out of bed and get it done.<\/p>\n<p>So, do I run on Thursday in the super cold temps or do I wait until Friday and run in the freezing rain?
